Training for state officials on Gender Action Plan of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Gender Equality Law in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Agency for Gender Equality of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Gender Centre of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with E-Net Centre, and financial support of the UNDP BiH (United Nations Development Programme), organised trainings on the Gender Action Plan of Bosnia and Herzegovina (adopted at 129th session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 14.09.2006.) and the implementation of the Gender Equality Law in Bosnia and Herzegovina (“Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, no. 16/03) for state officials from 26-29 June 2007.

The aim of the trainings was for the participants to acquire knowledge on international and domestic legal frameworks, understand the gender concept, and acquire skills for integration of gender issues and responsibilities of institutions set forth in the Gender Action Plan of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the plans and programmes of their institutions.

 The trainers were: Samra Filipović – Hadžiabdić, Director of the Agency for Gender Equality of Bosnia and Herzegovina, prof. dr. Zijad Hasić, Secretary of the Commission for Constitutional and Legal Issues of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and prof. dr. Jasminka Babić – Avdispahić, Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo. The participants were representatives from the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ministry of Finances and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ministry of Communications and Traffic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Directorate for European Integrations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Agency for Work and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Agency for Administration Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Agency for Educational Standards and Evaluation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The participants from the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were representatives of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Federal Ministry of Finances, Federal Ministry of Work and Social Policy, Federal Agency for Administration Service, Federal Ministry of Education and Sciences, cantonal ministries of sciences, culture and sport, and cantonal pedagogic institutes.

 The trainings took place on 26 and 27 June 2007, in the Building of B&H Institutions, Trg BiH 1, Sarajevo; and on 28 and 29 June 2007, in the premises of the E-Net Centre, The Faculty of Economy in Sarajevo, Trg oslobođenja – Alija Izetbegović 1, Sarajevo.
